Amazing!

I've been to France's delicious country-side bakeries, to Italy's decadent cafes, to NYC's best, to Nova Scotia's salt to the Earth, to Seattle's kitsch.....Jim's rocks them all! The key lime muffins are my favorite. My second child was recently born at home unassisted, and the early weeks were filled with boxes of little pastries my fiance went out every other day to get while our newborn and I stayed home resting and nursing. Our tiny one got all your delicious creations through my milk! (and still does!) Jim's is awesome!!!!!!!

The cheese croissant was delicious. Fresh, flaky, and a generous amount of filling. The bacon cheddar thing was also really good, even for being a day-old (they have a tray of discounted day-old items). I haven't tried anything else, but the menu looks really good. Breakfast and lunch sandwhiches, beer, wine, and mimosas! I'll be back for all of them. :)

This guy and his products are the real deal! Croissants like we had in Paris, chewy/crusty sourdough bread and luscious looking desserts. Reasonable prices and truly artisanal quality. Jim is passionate about what he makes and it shows! We will be back!

Stumbled upon this bakery after visiting an oriental grocery store recommended by a friend. The bakery items all looked great so I bought a small sampler to share with my wife. My favorite to date is the chocolate almond mini croissants. I have to drive almost 15 miles to get there, but it is worth the time. As it turned out my wife shared she had heard about this bakery from a coworker, but forgot to tell me about it. She was pleasantly pleased and surprised I found this place and brought home some of their offerings..

Amazing!!! Simply the best pastries I have ever had .....going back for lunch The young Lady working behind the counter was the best she was friendly and very knowledgeable about the food, I work in the industry and she ROCKS !!!!and so does this place ;)

Jim brings the coconut macaroon back to it's rightful glory! I can not remember the last time I had one of this caliber. No wait, it was more than 20 years ago in Napa, California at Sciambra bakery. Thank you Jim, we are so glad to have you in our neighborhood!

Jim's performance with my wedding cake went above and beyond my expectations! I love putting together unique flavors, but It can be difficult with baked goods as my daughter and I eat dairy and gluten free. Guests of the wedding party were hesitant to try the matcha green tea cake with white chocolate frosting and hazelnut brittle. They all made fun of me for my flavor choices especially bc of the unique ingredient requests. Everyone was speechless after trying his amazing creation! He is extremely gifted and I appreciate the time and effort that went into the wedding cake at such a busy time of year! I would give 100 starts if I could! Thank you so much!

Jim’s is a must visit on your list if you are on vacation or live here! His pastries are to die for and I just recently tried the candied bacon blt and the chicken salad sandwich and holy cow! Beyond amazing!!!

Had their Chocolate Torte cake at a birthday party last night, the most amazing, delicious cake I have ever eaten, and I am not a huge cake fan. For a special occasion, it will be the "only" place for me! Next, I must try the sandwiches.

Love Jim's Small Batch! My only complaint is that they are always sold out of my favorites before I get there! They serve decent lunch as well but it always seems to take a very long time to get the food. Doesn't keep me from going back though. Employees are always very friendly and they're baked goods are the bomb.

Went for first time last week. Loved the smoked salmon sandwich with tomato and brie on a baguette - very tasty and fresh. Not so thrilled with the cappuccino, as I asked for it "dry" and it was very wet. They did have a new person there. I will try again. But the food offerings and bakery goods looked great. A full house in there.

Jims Small batch bakery is the bomb. He made us a ny cheese cake that was out of this world. His breads are the best in town.

Delicious, really delicious. This is a quaint little bakery that also does sandwiches. My wife had the ham and brie, I had a smoked salmon (lox, as I like to refer to it) on garlic bagel. I personally like the crumb of my bagel a little more dense and the crust little thicker, but it still excellent. It was obvious that they used incredibly fresh and high quality ingredients We also got done treats for later, which look amazing. The woman working the counter was very helpful and I liked that she knew most people's names who walked in. It was a little weird that she referred to the baker as "Chef", instead of just saying something like "we make everything fresh", but whatever, it was still great.

The ONLY place for fresh, amazing bread. And croissants. And a stunning array of sweet, lovingly made treats and cakes. A gem in Sarasota, wonderful local family business. Spoiler alert: breakfast sandwich - ON ciabatta, with ham and cheddar.

Great little cafe. Delicious pastries and breakfast sandwiches in slightly off-the-beaten-path Gulf Gate.

We came for breakfast during our Siesta Key vacation. The Quiche and French Toast were good but the chocolate almond croissant was the best.

The Spinach and Mushroom Quiche will melt in your mouth, the Latte is delicious, and the staff is very friendly, new favorite place.

Have to wait 15-30 minutes depending on what you want. Slow and ill timed. Never got what I wanted. Settled on alternative which was good.

Meh...everything we have tried tastes the same their. Perhaps we only select very similar items to sample though. Have not had anything outstanding after four or five visits.

Recently wanted to get a German Chocolate Cake as a surprise for my wife's 63rd birthday. We had moved to Venice from Massachusetts two years ago and had been unable to find a GC cake that would meet her standards. I had heard about Jim's Small Batch and decided to give them a try. I called on a Tuesday and was able to pick up the cake on the Saturday. My wife loved it. I loved it. Our neighbors and guests loved it. This cake was the best that we have ever had, and we have a had a fair number of German Chocolate Cakes on her birthdays. This one was dense, sweet, and yummy. The dark chocolate on top was perfect. The cake was created with obvious passion. Thank you Jim. You are an artist.

Fantastic staff, great home made bakery fresh food all produced on site. And CHEAP!! Great place to go for breakfast or lunch! Amazing breads and pastries

I've recently just found this place and it's amazing

None better! Did you know that on Saturdays chef boiles his own bagels, but you better get there between 11:30 and 2:30 to get them! And if you are a New Yorker like me and know a Bialy, well let me tell you, you have found the BEST! ( you might need to special order them, as there are not too many of us out there demanding them)Don't forget a slice of Carrot Cake for a sinful indulgence, that sounds like you are behaving.

So disappointed with the sandwich from this bakery. I ordered the ham and brie sandwich on baguette and it was incredibly disappointing. There was literally 1 slice of deli ham on the sandwich for $8. I also got a loaf of the need which was unmemorable. I will NEVER go back again! What a waste of my time and money!

Sarasota’s best kept secret! Just went in for the first time and will be a repeat customer. The business is owned by a local family that will treat you as their own. Everything is absolutely delicious!

Delicious and comforting, the sweets and treats at Jim's Small Batch Bakery are a delight and a local treasure. It's the only bakery I know of in town that actually makes their own croissants. The staff is passionate, friendly and helpful. If you ever find yourself in Sarasota, this is the one place to go and enjoy your lazy, comforting mornings.

Don't go to this place thinking you're going to have da breakfast you're used to. They're good at baking things.

The best bakery in Sarasota without question!!! I live for their loves letters and almond croissants. Literally everything there is so good. The cheese croissants are good too and I love his freaking tres lesches cake -- it's life changing I had know idea that I would love tres leches cake because everything I had before was uninspired. His has triple cream, vanilla bean, and berries! Then his savory toasts are excellent for breakfast and we like to get a loaf or a batard of bread because, it's so dang good too. 7/18/19 EDIT— Jim’s Small Batch was sold and is now L’Opera and I do not like it. The pastries were soggy and sweet and not very flavorful. I honestly don’t think it compares. I will only be going to Rendezvous now for pastries.
